Description
The Alexana Estate Pinot Noir expresses the vineyard’s dramatically diverse terroir which includes twelve clones planted on eighteen distinct soil types. The elevation rises from 320 to 650 feet over rolling hills, steep slopes, and rugged terrain creating disparate microclimates across the eighty-acre site. Wine from each of the estate’s Pinot Noir blocks comprises this blend which shows aromas of pine duff, açaí, blueberry and spun sugar with black cherry fruit on the palate supported by firm tannins and a dusty finish.
Alexana was founded in 2005 by Dr Madiah Revana. His intention was to make great wine (it always is!) but unlike in his Napa estate where he looks at Cabernet, here he arrived with the intent of making cool climate wines to rival the great Pinots from Burgundy. Alexana is situated on a unique piece of land where the volcanic and marine sedimentary soils merge in Oregon’s Dundee Hills AVA. Their position on the backside of the hills ensures that the vines are exposed to long hours of gentle Oregon sunshine tempered by the unobstructed cool coastal winds from the Pacific Ocean. The three-story, gravity flow winery is the perfect place to make high quality wines that beautifully express the best that Oregon can offer.

"Boasting a translucent medium ruby core with a silvery rim in the glass, the 2021 Revana Pinot Noir from Alexana elicits aromas of crushed blueberries, sour cherries, pencil shavings, dried mountain herbs, black tea, and just a smooch of old leather. Tannins are silky smooth, acidity is mouthwatering, and it finishes with an enticing red fruit and herbaceous note on the back of the palate. Drink now or over the next 8 years."
