Description
ARIEL Chardonnay is a dealcoholized wine made by J Lohr at their sustainable winery in Paso Robles, utilising all the care, expertise and attention given to their alcoholic wines. Composed of Chardonnays from the 2022 vintage, with an emphasis on tropical fruit character, ARIEL Chardonnay is cold-fermented in stainless steel and small French oak barrels, before being blended and undergoing more oak barrel aging. Just prior to bottling, the alcohol is gently removed by cold filtration, leaving less than 0.5% alcohol by volume. Unlike many 0% ABV wines, ARIEL Chardonnay is left without residual sugar, preserving the distinctive combination of buttery apple and butterscotch characteristics, underpinned by a toasty French oak bouquet. Enjoy ARIEL Chardonnay with richer seafoods, veal, duck and cream pasta dishes.
J Lohr was founded in 1973 by the eponymous Jerry, who originally looked at the cool and windblown Monterrey coast. Fairly quickly building a successful business with the lovely terroir there in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, he expanded to Paso in a search for a place to grow truly great Cabernet. And, with no doubt - he found it. Founding the Hilltop Vineyard pretty quickly, they expanded rapidly off the back of the quality of Paso Robles fruit and the exceptional quality of the wines they were producing. Nowadays this is one of USA's favourite wineries - not requiring pretence or shouting to show how damn good it is. This is a Cellar's favourite across the board, with the Seven Oaks and the Riverstone proving firm favourites amongst our customers.
